Type A ropes are static ropes designed for applications where the users are secured by a rope, including all types of work positioning and restraint. This also includes rope-supported work within the scope of rescues or cave exploration. Type B ropes are static ropes that have lower performance features than type A ropes (lower weight, smaller diameter, and less strength) and therefore have to be used with the utmost care.
